This dish was made at the Chelsea Porcelain Factory, which was established in ca. 1743. It was an important factory in the production of early English porcelain, which specialised in highly naturalistic floral decoration.

Dish, soft-paste porcelain, painted in enamels and gilt with birds, William Duesbury & Co., England (Derby), ca. 1765
Physical description
Dish of soft-paste porcelain, painted in enamel colours and decorated with gilding. Lozenge-shaped with a shell at each angle, and moulded rim with wavy edge. In the middle are birds of brilliant plumage among trees. The rim is decorated with pink quatrefoils in narrow panels moulded in relief.
