RD: Buff-coloured earthenware, rudely modelled in the front, which is covered with a green glaze, in the form of a bearded human face. Found in the moat of the town of Illiers, near Chartres, in 1870. French, 15th or 16th century. In the form of a triangular bag with face on the front, three small bosses on the lower edge, a flanged tubular orifice on the top, and a flat loop handle at the back.
