This vase is an example of the good-quality enamelled porcelain ware produced in China during the late Kangxi reign (1662-1722). The surface is decorated with four square panels, each containing a Buddhist lion and set against a dense background of geometric and floral motifs. The design was executed in famille verte colours with a particular combination of overglaze red and green enamels, and gilding.
