Oval medallion of white Jasper ware with green dip and white applied bas-relief decoration. A thin white applied border is in turn surrounded by a border of a black dip ground decorated with classical motifs. The central scene depictsThe Muses watering Pegasus, with three female figures half naked in classical drapery, surrounding a winged horse. One of the muses is still half submerged in the river that surrounds them. Two standing muses raise water vessels up to the horse. The Jasper plaque is enclosed in a thin metal mount surrounded by a thick oval frame of polished wood.
