Coronation mug of earthenware transfer-printed in underglaze brown, enamelled in pink, lustred in pink and gilded. Cylindrical with a loop handle. The exterior is printed in two tones of brown with a stylised crown supported by a lion and unicorn outlined in leaves. Partly intersecting the crown is a feathery monogram 'EIIR' printed in pale stippled brown and painted in pink lustre. Below this is the date '1953' outlined in laurel wreaths. The upper and lower border and the handle has a gilt line decoration. The interior has the words 'GOD SAVE THE QUEEN' on a band of pink enamel.
