Dish, oval, saucer-shaped, the rim lobed, the sides moulded with rococo scrolls linked by wreaths of flowers, tied with ribbon, borders gilt. The centre is painted with a large melon, with cut slice, poppy, and sprigs of rose in bright colours on a plain ground; the border is painted with small floral sprigs on pale buff ground, the moulded wreaths on the border are in white reserve.

Object history
This dish and C.63-1939 are the only pieces retained from the dessert service bequeathed to the museum. The remainder was sold to Mr. J. Rochelle Thomas, Georgian Galleries, 10-12 King Street SW1 (£35).
