Place of origin

Dish of bone china painted with enamels and gilded. Moulded square shape on a base ring. Straight sides flaring outwards. The centre is painted with a scene of a cobbler's shop, all within an eight-sided gold frame. The cobbler is seated on a bench working, an elderly customer is watching and a child stretches for a vase. The sides of the dish are gilded with a neo-classical frieze consisting of a series of stylised tassels linked by a continuous looped line and alternating within a five dot-daisy, all within two plain gold bands. Within the frieze and framing the well of the dish is a running zigzag line with a gold dot in each loop.
