Cup and Saucer

Cup and saucer of hard-paste porcelain, painted in enamel colours and decorated with gilding. On the front of the cup is Venus borne by two dolphins on the sea and attended by cupids. The remaining surface of the cup is decorated with two cupids en grisaille, and with two female figures in classical drapery, in colours within gilt panels on a green ground; the saucer is ornamented with similar panels in which are cupids and dogs hunting. Round the rim of both pieces is a brown border with white swans and scrolls.
