Tapered cup with Imari style decorations circa 1860 Giulio Richard & C. (Milan) ? porcelain painted in underglaze blue with polychrome and gold overglaze h 6,9 cm no mark inv. 8086A-1862 gift: Signor M. Ricard [Richard?] For most of the 19th century, Ginori produced and displayed at the various international exhibitions trumpet vases, potiche vases and bottle vases “ad uso del Giappone”, i.e. in the Japanese style with Imari type decorations, however we do not know of any example that is similar to this cup. In any case, considering the analogies this cup has with some Richard cups in the Museo di Doccia (for example, inv. 6308) it seems likely that this cup was produced at the factory founded by Giulio Richard in Milan in 1843. The V&A has another example of this cup (inv. 8086B-1862). O.R. Bibliography: unpublished
