Figure group in hard-paste porcelain of a courting couple. The youth and girl sit on a circular pedestal edged with rococo scrolls in relief with further scrolls rising behind them in a low pyramid capped by a small square plinth. At the back is a fountain with a open-mouthed head of a monster over a shell-shaped basin. On the ledge behind the girl is a pot of flowers, and the boy sits high on a scroll on the right, turning towards the girl with his right arm round her shoulder and his left arm raised. The girl turns her head towards him and lifts her apron with both hands. The base is hollow and glazed inside.

D'Agliano, Andreina (ed). Porcellane Italiane dalla Collezione Lokar, Silvana Editoriale, Milan, 2013. Published with dual text in Italian and English. In the introduction to the Cozzi section catalogued by Luca Melegati, 73p, the author states 'The Cozzi manufactory...was reluctant to relinquish rococo models even with the advance of neoclassical taste....' This group is one of a number of models based on Sèvres models of the 1750s after François Boucher which can probably be identified in the factory records as 'Groupeti Francesi'.
