A porcelain manufactory was founded in Nyon, near Lake Geneva, Switzerland, in 1781. Jacques Dortu, a German-born porcelain painter trained at the Royal Porcelain Manufactory at Berlin , and Ferdinand Mueller, who had worked in St. Petersburg. All the raw materials were imported, the kaolin came from Saint-Yrieux, near Limoges, France, and the enamel colours imported from Germany. The wares are known for their whiteness and bright colour palette. The factory closed in 1813.

Coffee cup and saucer of hard-paste porcelain painted with enamels and gilded, Nyon porcelain factory, Nyon, 1790-1810.
Physical description
Coffee cup and saucer of hard-paste porcelain painted with enamels and gilded. With borders of bunches of roses in crimson on a gilt dotted ground with continuous bands of rope pattern in black winding between them. Below are slight gilt swags of foliage and sprigs.
