Place of origin

Vase and cover of bone china, amphora-shaped on square plinth. The handles consist of gilt intertwined vine-stems, and the domed cover is surmounted by a bunch of grapes. Round the lower part are gilt vine-leaves and tendrils in relief. The figure-subject is surrounded by gilt scrolls. The decoration is on a bleu-de-roi ground. On one side is depicted the crowning of the Rose Queen at Salency in the north of France. The base is inscribed: "Marguerito [sic]. The Rose Queen of Salency. Mrs. S. C. Hall (1800-1881)."
