Jug of salt-glaze stoneware moulded in relief with the 'Apostles'. Straight sides with eight facets and contracting to a low splayed foot of the same plan. Large pouring-lip and cut away edge. Vertical angular handle with scrolls and reliefs. Sides moulded with canopied gothic niches, each containing a standing figure of a saint, among whom may be St. James the Great, a King, two bishops and three figures holding books or a scroll who may be the Apostles. Gothic panelling and other details in relief on the foot and lip. Two bearded grotesque masks at the top of the handle, one looks inwards and the other outwards. Foliage at the bottom of the band. Under the base is an applied shaped and stamped bat with the Royal Arms of England supported by a lion and unicorn in relief at the top, and foliations at the bottom.
