Black ruched suede evening bag with a gold chain and gold motif set with green and red stones.

During the 1920s and ’30s, decorative and distinctive clasps and frames added weight and sparkle to monochrome textile and leather evening bags. The application of semi-precious stones, coloured metals and innovative hinges required the skills of specialist craftspeople. The handbag shown open could be accessed through an ingenuous brass-hinge which unfolds into a square.
