Eleven fragments of checked red, blue and beige silk. The differing sizes of checks show that these fragments originally came from two distinct textiles or groups of (seven from a group with larger checks, four from a group with smaller). Those with the smaller checks are more finely woven.
Larger pattern group: Z-spun silk (warp approx. 16-18 threads pcm, weft approx. 16-18 threads pcm).
Smaller pattern group: Z-spun silk (warp approx. 25 threads pcm, weft approx. 25 threads pcm).
Larger pattern group: Z-spun silk (warp approx. 16-18 threads pcm, weft approx. 16-18 threads pcm).
