Keiko Mukaïde (born 1954)
Hexagonal Wavy Bowl
1995

Mukaïde has said: 'I want natural glass like magma. Glass is so beautiful if you don't touch it so much'. Nevbertheless, she exercises great control over free-flowing, molten glass. Here she has made a bowl-like form that denies all useful function. Instead, it stands alone as a light-gathering, untouchable sculpture.
