Place of origin |
Popinjay with collar and badges, silver, parcel-gilt, hung with silver chains and 20 badges. The bird has a collar and crown and clasps a perch with hs claws. The two earliest badges and the medal hang from a ringg at his beak. A short chain attached to two rings on the bird's back passes through the brooch, which has a loop and wire joining the two ends of a long double chain from which the rest of the badges hang. The two earliest badges are shield shaped, the others are oval, heart shaped and of irregular cartouche shape; some of them are repoussé with ornamental borders and coronets and one is gilt.
