Place of origin |
Gold belt hook attached by a short chain to a turned tortoiseshell spindle, now broken in two, with the lower end missing. The belt hook is made of thick sheet gold cut out in the shape of a flower, with engraved decoration on the front. There is a small loop at the base of the back, to which is attached a short length of compact chain with a small engraved heart in the centre. The spindle is attached to the end of the chain by means of a gold collar with bands of decorative twisted wire round each end, and a flat hollow filigree bead, decorated with pearls attached by gold wire, on its top. There are two gold collars half way down the spindle, with an empty space between them, which may lack its original decoration.
