Hanukkah is the Jewish Festival of Lights. It celebrates the victory of Judas Maccabeus over the Syrian king Antiochus Epiphanes and the rededication of the Temple in Jerusalem in 165 BC. This winter festival lasts eight days and an extra flame is lit for each night of the festival.

Physical description | Brass Hanukkah lamp with eight lights. Cast and pierced back plate surmounted by a magen David (Star of David), with a shammash (servitor lamp) and a Hebrew inscription. The outer part of the back plate is hammered, forming a plain wall bracket, with a row of repoussé bosses along the front wall of the drip pan. , |
