Equestrian Figure

Artist/Maker

Electrotype statuette of the Emperor Leopold. The original was made from a solid piece of iron, by Gottfried Liegebe in 1659, and is in the Rosenborg Castle in Copenhagen. On the front of the pedestal is a shield and a coronet, on the back a wreath with bust, Germany, 1659. The electrotype copy was bought from Elkington and Company of Birmingham in 1885 for £16.
