The frame is formed of three members of chromed steel tube bent at the bottom to form a tripod and at the tope to support three chrome hooks. The three members are attached above the tripod and below the curved top stage by two short black cylinders of plastic attached by screws through the abutting tubes.

Object history	Given to the V&A in 1978 (acquisition registered file no. 77/285). On entry to the Museum it was noted that the chrome was 'slightly rubbed'.
Historical context	Hatstands of this type were used along with matching umbrella stands (W.87-1978) in luxury London hotels such as The Savoy and Claridges.
