Carved and pierced oak footwarmer with iron handle. In the top is a circular compartment, around the inner edge of which run the remains of pierced scrollwork. The spandrels are filled in with symmetrically arranged leaf ornament in 'chip' carving and the whole is bordered by a band of imbricated ornament. The hinged door, the sides and the back are each decorated with a circular compartment pierced with tracery, outside which is leaf and rosette ornament. The angles are formed by rope ornament and below is a projecting plinth with a serrated band of imbricated ornament. On the bottom of the box is a human figure standing with one foot on the back of a whale. The rest of the space is occupied by floral scrollwork and interwoven with the design is the following:
1. ANNO DM 1769
2. B.T.KAT (on a scroll)
3. GIT
The box stands on four feet and has a second handle on the top.
