Object history
Purchased from Messrs. Rabb & Knapp (Antiquarian dealers), 5 Alter Markt, Frankfurt, Germany, for 280 marks (£13. 13.). A. B. Skinner and W.W. Watts 'visited the shop of these dealers' and reported on 25 Nov. 1907 that the 'Four pieces of inlaid frieze, probably from a large piece of furniture. The inlay is very good. We selected these friezes, as being very characteristic of Cologne work, which is but slightly represented in the Museum.'
