Wood writing box covered with red leather and decorated with a design of scrolls and foliage in green leather outlined with gold. The edges have a border of gold tooling. Inside is a tray fitted with an inkstand, matchbox, blotting book, a tortoiseshell and gold penholder and pencil, a tortoiseshell paper knife, and a pair of steel scissors with chased handles.The box is contained in an outer case of brown leather with straps.
