Each page has woven and dyed examples with the recipes for dyeing each sample on the facing page.

The second part of the book, from page 87, deals with the dying of other vegetable fibres including all kinds of textiles and paper fibres, brush rope and twine, basts and plaiting materials. These include linen fabrics, jute, ramie yarns, hemp, cocoa and sisal, straw, bast, esparto, artificial silk and various paper yarns and fabrics.
