Embroidered cope hood. The hood is embroidered with coloured silks and silver gilt thread with the use of split and encroaching satin stitches which are of raised, laid and couched work. The figures are worked on a separate piece of linen and applied. In the centre, the Virgin and Child are seated on a gold throne, on the left is an angel playing a lute and on the right an angel is playing a viol. The background above the scene is worked in gold and below it the background is worked in squares of green, red, yellow and pink. There is a raised border in gilt thread, and the hood is lined with blue linen. Later repair work and stitchery are worked through this backing linne as well as the original background.
