Needlecase and six packets of needles.
Small needlecase of stiff card covered with thin blue leather stamped in gold and red. On the front is a sprig of red-current, on the sloping top is the word 'NEEDLES', and on the back is the inscription 'ROGERS & SONS. CUTLERS to their MAJESTIES'.
The top half of the case slides off to reveal six packets of needles. Four packets are labelled 'JOS ROGERS & SONS. CUTLERS TO HER MAJESTY & THE Royal Family. SHEFFIELD: SUPERIOR SHARPS.' The packets are graded in size and the needle numbers are written in red ink on the outside of each packet - Nos. 9, 10, 11, 12.
Another packet is labelled 'R COOK & CO. Hathersage, Nr SHEFFIELD. NEWLY INVENTED OVAL EYED BURNISHED SHARPES (9) MADE FROM THE BEST REFINED CAST STEEL.'
Another packet is labelled 'KIRBY'S LONDON NE PLUS ULTRA NEEDLES, No. 8 DIAMOND DRILL'D EYED. SHARPES.'
The packets of needles are graded from 1.125 x 0.5 inches to 1.375 to 0.625 inches (2.8 x 1.3 cm to 3.4 x 1.6 cm)
