Pair of embroidered workbag panels. Two sides from a bag in linen and cotton twilled fabric embroidered with crewel wool in red, pink, blue, green, yellow, brown and black in chain, satin and filling stitches with French knots. The sides are decorated with different versions of the tree-of-life pattern. Slender branches, bearing large leaves and stylised carnations, marigolds and other flowers, rise from tiny mounds at the bases of the panels. The panels were originally joined to form a bag.
