Place of origin |
Two halves of a woman’s waistcoat of fine bleached linen, lined with fine bleached linen. It is embroidered front and back in silk with chain, satin and outline stitches, in a border of green leaves and red flowers. The ground is backstitched with white silk floss in a diamond pattern that resembles quilting, but there is no wadding and the stitches only go through one layer. The waistcoat has a high shallow neckline, with deep skirts below the waist, curving at centre front. It fastens at centre front with 10 hooks and eyes.
