Artist/Maker | |
Place of origin |
Set of nine pattern rollers for embroidery and a hand printing roller.
Nine detached wooden pattern blocks of 3/4 inch and inch diameter all showing different raised patterns which could be used with the roller. The patterns show mostly edging designs and would have been used for marking fabric in preparation for whitework embroidery, mostly in the style now known as 'broderie anglaise'.
Wooden handled roller with a metal head into which is fixed a movable wooden circular block with a rubber transfer pattern. There is a second small wooden roller lined with felt onto which was rubbed ink or dye for transferring to the pattern roller. The detachable pattern roller is held in place with two metal screws.
