Pattern book of dyes for cotton. Bound book entitled 'Farbenfabriken vorm. friedr. Bayer & Co, Elberfeld' concerning various dyes for loose cotton, cotton yarns and woven cotton fabrics. It shows various dyed samples which are accompanied by recipes using various of the firms dyes. These include Benzo colours, blue, orange, red, scarlet and violet, Pluto black and diazo fast black and katigen for brown, yellow, black, blue-black, green and olive. The book has printed end papers and is marked 'No 836 1900'. Metal fixing bars enable pages to be extracted and inserted into the book. The spine is marked with the manufacturer's name and the contents described as 'Cotton Colours'.
