Skirt Panel
1850s (made)
Place of origin |
Panel of embroidered skirt. The panel once formed part of a dress. It is made of muslin embroidered with coloured silks and straw in satin and stem stitches. The design consists of two sprays of flowers in pinks, mauve and white with leaves of different shades of green, 'tied' with bows of real ribbon in red, pink and green. The bunches are linked together by a wavy trail of dots and small leaves in straw-work. At the bottom is a scalloped border of leaf-forms worked in straw.
