This limestone fragment from a frieze was made in England in about 1550-1660. It is painted and gilt with traces of crimson colouring and scrolling foliage with fruit.
It was probably originally belonging to the Royal Architectural Museum, and taken on by the Architectural Association, together with its premises in 1903.

Object history | Probably originally belonging to the Royal Architectural Museum, and taken on by the Architectural Association, together with its premises in 1903. Given to the Museum by the Architectural Association in 1916 together with cat.no. 44. A total of 127 architectural fragments (inv. nos. A.13 to 123-1916), formerly belonging to the Royal Architectural Museum, were given by the Architectural Association to the Museum in 1916, as well as further 3905 plaster casts (A.1916-1 to 3095), mainly English, although including some German, French and Italian pieces. |
