This bust represents King Philip IV of Spain (1605 - 1665) and is attributed to Bernardo Schiaffino (1678-1725). It was probably made in Genoa, Italy, during the first quarter of the 18th century.
Both, the present piece and A. 15-1963 are notable examples of High Baroque sculpture. The present bust of Philip IV is certainly and that of Charles II possibly, posthumous.
