Place of origin |
This bone relief medallion was made in Italy, Venice, in about 1400-1425.
The plaque is typical of those on a large group of caskets probably executed in the early part of the fifteenth century. This and othe caskets have been attributed to the Workshop of Baldassare Ubriachi's atelier, but the poor quality of the work, the stylistic differences between many of the pieces and the sheer number of works produced suggest instead an attribution ot a range of workshops, presumably active in Venice in the early fifteenth century.
