Brief description
Statuette Hercules, bronze. South German early 16th century.
Physical description
Bronze statuette of Hercules wearing the lion skin as a cap and cloak, tied round his shoulders and waist. The arms are held apart, the right hand, the palm downwards, forward, and the left arm stretched out and raised slightly above the shoulder. In the palm of the left hand is a screw, and it is obvious from the position of the whole figure that Hercules is represented at one of this labours, but the figure as it is now gives no indication as to which it might be.
