This relief representing an angel was probably made in North Italy, in about 1375-1400. This may have formed the upper part of a tabernacle. Its style suggests a sculptor working in the Venetian territories of North Italy.

Relief angel, stone. Italian ca. 1375-1400.
Physical description
Relief in stone. The angel is represented in full face in three-quarter length holding a scroll in his left hand and pointing downwards with his right. The figure is framed in a depressed Gothic arch with an inner indented border and an outer border of foliated ornament. To left and right are pinnacles.
