A study for the monument of Pietro and Francesco Bolognetti in the Church of Gesù e Maria at Rome. The family funded the extensive decoration of the church, which housed several of their monuments. This monument is placed above a confessional in the chapel. The figures representing the two brothers face each other, suggesting conversation. They seem to be spectators of a performance taking place below, and give a strong impression of movement and expression.
