This medal depcits the schculptor and medallist Lorenzo Ciglia Mocchi and is made by Niccolo Fiorentino.
Niccolo Fiorentino (1430-1514) - also called Niccolo di Forzore Spinelli - grand newphew of the painter Spinello Aretino, was born in Florence of a family of goldsmiths of the Popolo of S. Maria Novella. It is possible that he is identical with the 'Nicolas de Spinel' who was mentioned in 1468 in the accounts of the Dukes of Burgundy as having engraved seals for Charles the Bald.

On the reverse is Fortune, as a naked woman standing on a dolphin swimming in the sea. She is seen in three quarter face to the left, and holds a sail, the yard in her right hand and the sheet in the left. On the left, a radiant face in profile emerging from the sea. Inscription. |
