This bronze medal depicts Mrs Rodney Fennessy facing to the right. Thomas Stirling Lee, a sculptor in marble and bronze, was a close friend of Alfred Gilbert. He entered the Royal Academy Schools in 1875 and spent a number of years studying in Paris and Rome. Stirling Lee and Gilbert experimented with lost-wax bronze casting.

The sitter is thought to be Mrs R.J Fennessy, a sculptor who exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1873, 1882 and 1883.
