This bronze portrait medallion depicts the English Impressionist artist and member of the Camden Town Group, Walter Richard Sickert (1860-1900). This medal was made by the sculptor, Thomas Stirling Lee who worked in marble and bronze. He trained at the Royal Academy and in Paris and Rome. He was a close friend of Alfred Gilbert and worked with him experimenting with lost-wax bronze casting. Stirling Lee produced numerous portrait medallions of this type.
