This medallet or token is one of a number of civic productions which imposed their own reverses on Carter Preston's design for the reverse of the Peace Treaty medal which was manufactured by Messrs J.R.Gaunt & Son in 1919. These tokens were produced in huge numbers and issued to school children for the Victory celebrations on July 1919.

| Physical description | Medal, brass. Obverse side, Britannia, her helmet at her feet, stands holding an olive branch and a dove. In the field to the right there is a trident flanked by two dolphins. Legend: BRITAIN, FRANCE, ITALY, AMERICA, BELGIUM. Signed: E.CR.P and below the exergue J.R.G. On the reverse side, in the central oval a man and a woman stand by an overhanging tree at a fence by the edge of a field, looking into the distance. At their feet a dog. Legend: PEACE CELEBRATIONS THE BOROUGH OF BETHNAL GREEN/ 1919/ W.J LEWIS, MAYOR. Hole for suspension. |
