Physical description | Leaded bronze. Conical mortar with projecting rim, recessed lip and semi-circular ribbed loop handle. The body is decorated with symmetrically disposed panels containing a lion flanked by two hares (affronted), and two birds with foliate scroll; two separate panels with a vase of flowers on either side. The four outer panels fill the height of the body and rest on an astrgal that delineates the plain foot. |
