Sceptre with portraits of Electors of Saxony

Sceptre
ca. 1806 (made)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

The sceptre commemorates Electors of the Saxony, commencing with Christian II (1583-1611; ruled 1591-1611), then Johann Georg I (1585-1656; ruled 1611-1656), Johann Georg II (1613-1680; ruled 1656-1680), Johann Georg III (1647-1691; ruled 1680-1691), Johann Georg IV (1668-1694; ruled 1691-1694), and culminating in Friedrich Augustus III (1750-1827; ruled 1768 onwards); King of Saxony 1806). The sceptre was almost certainly made in Saxony, perhaps Dresden, and probably dates from around the time Friedrich Augustus was crowned king in 1806.
