Kalian (water-pipe base), fritware, underglaze-painted in cobalt blue with green and red slip with scrolling leaves and carnation sprays; Iran, 1650-1700; brass mounts added in Qajar Iran, early 19th century.

Kalian, or hookah base, decorated with horizontal bands alternating blue continuous scrolling leaves and red and green carnation scrolls. Brass mount added in Qajar Iran, ca.1800-1825
