Jug with cover of tin-glazed earthenware painted in colours. Pear-shaped body, spreading foot, short wide-flaring neck with small lip, moulted cover attached by a pewter hinge with shell thumbpiece to the loop handle, on either side of which, at its upper end, is a small applied spiral in relief. The Virgin holding the Chist Child are painted on the front within a panel bordered by rococo scrolls amongst which at its upper end are two peacocks and flanked by branches of conventional flowers. On the cover are similar flowers and round the neck a formal border with festoon of roses.
