Trilby shaped hat, woven in a fine two-toned natural straw. With buff, chiffon hat band arranged with a flat bow at one side. Pinned into the hat are two brooches shaped like flies, possibly made from resin. One brooch is amber coloured with gilt wings and the other is black with silver wings.
The brim is stitched on to the crown and the join is hidden by the hat-band, there is a centre back seam to the brim. Inside the crown is a stiffening of net and a cross-shaped support and inner band of the same chiffon as the hat band.
