1840-1870 (made)
Artist/Maker | |
Place of origin |
Casters such as this are also known as muffineers, as they were used to sprinkle seasonings such as sugar, pepper or cinnamon onto muffins. This caster has traces of pepper inside it. The lack of grain suggests that the caster is made from a tropical nut wood. (KH 1995)
