Object history | This object, which has formerly been described as a 'shaving mirror' was identified by J.A Chaldecott, Assistant Keeper in the Department of Physics in the Science Museum, in October 1953. In his letter to the department (minute on RF 53/2957) he noted that a paper by him on these objects was to be published in Annals of Science in the following year. In April 1954 a copy of this was sent to the department. A table-mounted version of this apparatus was sold by Sotheby Bearne, Torquay, 22 October 1980, lot 137. |
