Object history
Note in Register: (8 April 1952) Identified by Paul Boesch as by Hans Sur of Basel and depicting the arms of Renward Göldli, canon of Beromünster.
Signed: H.S.V.B. (+Hans Sur von Basel), active 1560-1580. Renward Göildli, Domkustor zu Basel und Chorherr im Beromünster, 1531-1600. Beromünster is a collegiate near Lucerne. Renward Göldli was from a Lucerne noble family, he became a member of the "Domstift of Basle" on 21 October 1578 in Freiburg in Breslau, where the capitol of Basel was since the Reformation. In 1594 he gave a panel in the cloister of Rathausen with the donor inscription "Remhardtus Göoldlin von Thieffenauw, protenotarius Apostolicus, Thurn Custos der hochstifft panel, Chorherr zu Münster im Ergouw 1594", signed FF (Franz Fallenter of Lucerne). The donor was a very important person.
